Festive Motivation: 5 Tips to Keep up Productivity during the Festive Period

When it comes to the festive period a lot of businesses are accustomed to a little bit of a dip in productivity. After all a lot of the team might have taken time away, and those that are left can only do so much on their own (and are probably ready for a good break, who can blame them for working a bit slower?).

However this time of year can be a great opportunity to prepare for the year ahead. So although that productivity dip may seem tempting, you and your team will thank yourselves if you keep up the hard work right up until the holidays officially start. So with that in mind, here are five tips to keep up productivity during the festive period (without having to be a complete Scrooge)…

1. A reward for a good year’s work

Your team have worked hard this year, so don’t push them too hard in the run up to the holidays, especially if a good amount of the team are already off. Ensure that December is a positive month, celebrate the wins throughout the year to provide some encouragement to keep going.
Show your appreciation with a festive event or employee gift giving. Work around everyone’s availability and try not to interrupt the work day. Show your appreciation and encourage your team to keep going with their hard work – it’s almost time for a break!

2. Set realistic goals and targets

Make sure that everyone knows what they’re doing this time of year. With days off for different members of the team, it can be difficult for everyone to keep track. So make sure you’re using proper project management, either through workflow management directly with your bespoke CRM or through third party integration.

That way when everyone’s back in January you can all hit the ground running with realistic goals and targets. With peace of mind around what’s expected of them, everyone can relax over the festive period.

3. Be prepared for January

Make sure that part of your goal setting includes January, not just the first week but ideally the entire month. Of course, plans could change as the month progresses but it helps to have a solid plan in place so everyone can work effectively as soon as they come back. That way you’ve got time to plan the following months in advance, saving you from playing catch up at any point in the New Year – it pays to be prepared.

4. Make sure your bespoke CRM is working hard

Out of everyone working with you in the run up to the New Year, make sure your bespoke CRM is working the hardest. Use automation to cover small tasks like sorting through leads and drip feeding e-mail engagement campaigns over the holiday period. Pull out your real-time reports to start to prepare a plan for the year ahead of you, so you can be prepared for January.

5. Communicate

All the preparation in the world will go to waste if you don’t keep your team in the loop. Make sure everyone is aware of how important it is to keep up the productivity right up until the holidays. While you’re at it, ensure everyone is aware of what’s expected of them and different teams within the business, so that everyone is on the same page and knows what to be getting on with ready for the New Year.

With just one last push, you’ll all make it through to the holidays, ready for a well-deserved break.
